MDA82 is an useful tool to debug DALI problems, here are some of my tips how to use it.
1. Make sure the self locking button pull down.
This is the physical switch to turn on or turn off the internal DALI PS.
2. After connect MDA82 to computer via USB type C to type A cable, press the “DIM/Start-stop” multifunction button, and make sure the “DALI bus voltage” indicator turn blue. That means the integrated 16V/10mA (Max.) DALI PS enable output.
When first press the “DIM/Start-stop” momentary push button, the DALI PS will enable output and it will also broadcast a “OFF” command on the bus immediately. That will turn off the light output and you will not monitor the command on the APP software, because it just issues command by the button, no feedback to the USB interface.
3. Notes
1) MDA82 internal DALI PS only has Max. 10mA current output sourced from USB interface. If devices on DALI bus need more power, please add external DALI PS on bus with correct polarity connection and make sure the sum current not above 250mA.
2) The internal DALI PS output enable is the result of “AND” relation with physical switch plus “DIM/Start-stop” momentary push button.
3) If the internal DALI PS output is enabled, the “DIM/Start-stop” multifunction button acts as a dim up, dim down and ON/OFF push button function, can not disable DALI PS output.
4) If you want to disable the internal DALI PS output, please release the physical switch and repeat step 2 again.
